The clear, muggy, 76 degree conditions at Whispering Pines Park in Inverness, Florida was actually a welcome sign for an East Ridge team that has been training in 90 degree heat for the last two weeks. The more favorable weather led to a 2nd Place finish for the Knights. This was the second consecutive 2nd place finish at this race as last year the boys also finished runner-up as a team in the same spot. This year, Sunlake High School took the top spot, with Lecanto High School finishing 3rd and Montverde Academy finishing fourth. In all, twenty-five school from around the state of Florida participated.
The Knights were led by Junior Eli Wolsefer who finished with a time of 18:19, which was good for 18th place overall. Close behind, were his teammates, Sophomore Caleb Melendez (18:23 and 19th place) and Junior Charles Moore (18:31 and 20th place). Rounding out the top five scoring runners was Sophomore Hansel Lugo (19:01 and 34th place) and Senior Nolan McGinley (19:10 and 39th place).
The Knights will be in action next Saturday, August 31st at 8:00 AM at Mount Dora Christian School.
